Night Foraging

This feral pig made its way through the trees surrounding the Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at night, foraging through the bushes on the property. While waiting for the mortuary to pick up my late father's body, I heard rustling in the bushes below the lanai where I was sitting. This was one of three pigs walking in the area. I told the two of the registered nurses on duty, and they  and others came out to look.

Hau‘oli Makahiki Hou! Happy New Year!

This photo was taken from Maunalani Heights, overlooking Palolo Valley and metro Honolulu, at 2:30A. It was extremely quiet above the city. A rain cell is blowing out of Mānoa Valley.

I took this photo after my dad passed away about 2 hours earlier. After I got the call, I went up to talk with the nurses, and wait for the mortuary to pick him up. That took a while, and one of the nurses said I could sit out on the lanai. I spent time in prayer, listening to praise and worship music, while enjoying the cool breeze, and felt God's peace.

Finale

The finale for The Chainsmokers Dream Weekend concert featured a myriad of pyrotechnics, with butane flame columns, and fireworks.

Bruno Mars

Three years ago this week, Hawai‘i's own Bruno Mars held three sold-out concerts at Aloha Stadium. The massive stage was built in the north end zone to accommodate fans on the field. With 36,000 tickets sold per night, he and his band entertained the crowd during his two-hour-plus show. Much of Bruno's wardrobe (as seen above) was Hawai‘i-themed, as he wrapped up his 200-show "24K Magic" world tour.

The Chainsmokers

The electronic dance music duo, The Chainsmokers, headlined the 2017 Dream Weekend Concert at Aloha Stadium. Today's photo was taken during the duo's finale.

Unfortunately, this year's concert was canceled because of the China Corona Virus pandemic.

Fishing Boat

Our theme week for February is the "Honolulu Fish Auction". In the pre-dawn hours on Honolulu Harbor's Pier 38, the United Fishing Agency hosts the only fish auction between Tokyo and Maine. Fishing boats unload their catch  in nearby mooring spots, like the "Lady Anna" above, and are taken into the auction, where their catch is weighed and tagged.
