Japanese actor Kenji Haga and his new bride Mayu give an interview to the Japanese media in the front of Central Union's Sanctuary yesterday. Haga is known in the US for his role as Ken in the "Street Fighter" movie series. The wedding drew camera crews from five Japanese televison networks and several press photographers. The wedding ceremony was covered by Nippon Television and Fuji Television, and a few select photographers. A bunch of fans flocked to the church to catch a glimpse of Mr. & Mrs. Haga, but kept their distance.
The Japanese media are also here in Honolulu to cover Japanese celebrites arriving here for New Year's celebrations and vacations. It's annual event in which I have been a part of for the past 16 years. The TV footage is normally shown on morning shows, in an "Entertainment Tonight"-type feature.
