Blooming Purple Crowns

These purple crown flowers are in bloom. Crown flowers can be found throughout Hawai‘i, and were the favorite flower of Queen Lili‘uokalani (several crown flower trees are on the grounds of Washington Place, the Hawai‘i governor's residence).

I photographed these blooming crown flowers at Foster Botanical Garden along with Kekiinani one afternoon.

It's really amazing when you open the photo in the larger version. Those flowers are so intricate. That's a gorgeous shot!
