This week is National Police Week, where law enforcement agencies around the country recognize agents, officers, troopers and deputies killed in the line of duty.
Todayʻs photo shows a roadside memorial for Honolulu Police Department Officer Garrett C. Davis, who was killed while trying to assist a stranded motorist on the evening of January 21, 2012. Officer Davis was the 44th HPD officer killed in the line of duty, when his cruiser was struck from behind on the Interstate H1 East in ‘Aiea, and the vehicle exploded upon impact before he could assist the stranded motorist. This memorial sits on the opposite hillside abeam of the accident site.

What a terrible thing! It's nice to see that so many PD's honor their fallen officers.
