Interview
During last year's RIMPAC 2024 exercise, TV news crews from around the Pacific were in Honolulu to cover parts, or all, of the events. One of the crews were from EBC-TV, from Taipei, Taiwan. One morning, they stopped off at the Lagoon Drive parking lot at the Daniel K Inouye International Airport, waiting to get video of US Navy and US Air Force fighters taking off from the "Reef Runway". During a break in departures, EBC reporter Teresa Tan interviewed Charlie, one of the next generation of aviation enthusiasts as part of her stand-up report.

No Soup For You!
On the counter at Taka's Box Lunch stood a figurine of the "Soup Nazi" character from the NBC TV series "Seinfeld". I didn't think there was such a figurine ... but found it pretty funny it was there when I bought breakfast one morning. On a visit to Taka's a few months ago, the Soup Nazi figurine was gone.
The episode, from season six, featured an extremely popular soup take-out restaurant, with strict ordering guidelines. If the owner didn't like the way you ordered, or even had a question, his infamous remark was "No soup for you! Get out!" The catchphrase was mimicked by many, including one of the SportsCenter anchors, when describing a great defensive play.

Summertime Spotters
The next generation of plane spotters get their shots of this Federal Express Boeing 777 freighter as it's about to taxi by. With school out for summer, a lot of the younger aviation enthusiasts show to get their photography fix. Unfortunately, the height of the fence was raised to eight feet a few months ago, and standing on the K-barriers do not help.

Robot Dog Walker
When I worked part-time at a RadioShack store, I was tasked to try out a new Canon XTi DSLR. I took one of the robot toys that was on display, and a toy stuffed dog that a child left behind in the store, outside to take photos to try out the camera.
However, I wonder, if in the future, robots would be dog-walkers for those who can afford it?

A couple of decades ago, I videotaped a few Japanese tourist weddings in which Kahu Akaka was the officiant, and he also performed the blessing of the Aloha Airlines 737 that was painted by Wyland.

Hideki Matsuyama
PGA golfer Hideki Matsuyama receives the 2022 Sony Open In Hawaiʻi trophy, after taking the tournament in extra holes over Russell Henley. Matsuyama was five strokes behind Henley at the 9th hole, but made a charge to tie Henley at the 18th hole, forcing the sudden death playoff.
It was an exciting end for the golf tournament. I was part of the video board crew, with a hand-held camera on the 18th fairway. On his push to win, Matsuyama's tee shot landed about 20 feet from my camera position. After he made the following shot, I had to run with my camera to the green for the winning shot, which ended being the tying shot. The playoff hole made it suspenseful, as to who would win.
