Blaisdell Arena

A fish pond encircles the Neal S Blaisdell Arena. A variety of ocean reef fish live in the pond. During the 1970s to the 1990s, there used to be ducks that lived in the pond.

During a day at the beach, we found a dead crab was on the shore, I moved it to the slipper for the photo.

Hideki Matsuyama

PGA golfer Hideki Matsuyama receives the 2022 Sony Open In Hawaiʻi trophy, after taking the tournament in extra holes over Russell Henley. Matsuyama was five strokes behind Henley at the 9th hole, but made a charge to tie Henley at the 18th hole, forcing the sudden death playoff.

It was an exciting end for the golf tournament. I was part of the video board crew, with a hand-held camera on the 18th fairway.  On his push to win, Matsuyama's tee shot landed about 20 feet from my camera position. After he made the following shot, I had to run with my camera to the green for the winning shot, which ended being the tying shot. The playoff hole made it suspenseful, as to who would win.

Alma Mater

Whenever I work a high school sporting event that features, my alma mater, Maryknoll High Scholl, I'll wear my cap to represent and cheer on the Spartans. I'm not biased, just a proud alumnus. Other people on our crew will rep their alma mater's colors when their team plays.

Rare Helicopter

This Soviet-era Mil-8 helicopter was brought to Hawaiʻi for the motion picture, "Triple Frontier", that was filmed d at various locations around Oʻahu in 2018. It was based at the Kalaeloa Airport during its time here in Hawaiʻi.

Boulders And Tetrapods

Boulders and concrete tetrapods line the ocean side of HNL's Runway 8R, also known as the "Reef Runway". With no real shoreline, this wall protects the runway and taxiways from high surf during south swells. Waves can be seen crashing against the tetrapods and boulders from the other side during the summer, when the waves shift to the southern coastlines.

Hang Loose

Hang Loose was one of the monster trucks that performed at the Monster X Tour event that was held at Aloha Stadium in May 2019. Hang Loose made its debut at Monster X Hawaii. It's seen in the parking lot a few days prior to the event.

Makapuʻu Lighthouse

Patrol Boat

A US Navy Police boat from the CNIC (Commander, Naval Installations Command) patrols the the entrance to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam at the mouth of the harbor at Māmala Bay.
