Ice Crystals On Glass

These ice crystals formed on the outside of the window of an airliner at 36,000 feet. It measured about three inches across. As the aircraft climbed in altitude, the crystal grew from about a eighth-inch drop of water to what's seen. It's said that the outside temperature at 36,000 feet is about -40°F! Add in the fact the plane's going over 450 kts, it's even colder than that.
