Checking Her Email

A couple of weeks ago, I saw Emi looking at Katʻs laptop display. Kat left her laptop on the sofa, and Emi was sleeping atop the blanket. I had a small window to set up my external flash to help light this shot. I donʻt recall what was on the screen, but found it so amusing that Emi was looking at the laptop screen.

This is the blogʻs 2,000th consecutive post! With that, Iʻm going to take some time off from posting daily. Iʻm planning to post the monthly InstaGram collage, and may post theme week photos.

Chicken & Waffles

At the KCC Farmerʻs Market, Chef Sean Priester of Pacific Soul, has a tent that features his southern cuisine for sale. One of my favorites, is his fried chicken and waffles (above). Chef Seanʻs southern fried chicken is the best in Hawai‘i!

Cross-Current

A bit north of us was a part of the beach where the ocean had a cross-current, and pictured above are two waves colliding.

This trio of seniors sat under a big keawe tree as they read their books.

Covered Up

These two female Japanese tourists keep themselves covered up from sun exposure, while their guys are in the ocean swimming. I donʻt recall if they went went in the ocean during our time there.

While taking a break from the ocean, we saw this overdressed man do a round-trip walk from Kailua Beach to Kalama Beach.

Kailua Islets

The theme week for June is a day Kat & I spent at Kalama Beach Park in Kailua.

Todayʻs photo shows the three islets off the Kailua coastline, Flat Island (left), and the Mokulua Islands (also known as "The Mokes"), can be seen from Kalama Beach.

John Dominis 2.0

The John Dominis restaurant and wedding chapel is undergoing a complete re-build. As seen above, there will be two wedding chapels, primarily for Japanese tourist weddings, with the restaurant in the middle.

Instagram 9

The June edition of the Instagram collage features Instagram images from the 2012 Lantern Floating Hawai‘i, that was held this past Memorial Day.

Row 1: the NEP TV production truck ND2; an ōlloclip fisheye shot of the taiko drum sub-stage and 24-foot jib arm camera; boardshorts and barefeet (had to shoot in the water for the lantern release); sunset with taiko drums and jib camera; sunset colors; ookii (big) taiko and drummer.

Row 2: one of the JumboTrons in a test mode; on Camera 10, during blocking rehearsals; credentials sticker we had to wear during the equipment build phase; Diamond Head and Waikīkī; camera 10 (under the jacket) and the close JumboTron in color bars mode; one of my Summit Blast XS Energy Drinks, that fueled me going through the four-day assignment.
