Kuilima Beach

Located on O‘ahu's north shore, and adjacent to the Turtle Bay Resort, is Kuilima Beach.

In fact, the Turtle Bay Resort's orginal name was the Kuilima Hotel, when it was under the ownership of Del Webb.

Nice Surprise

Kathy surprised me with these orchids one afternoon. I waited until the entire stem was in bloom before taking this photo.

This one's for you Kat! :-)

He Is Risen!

Happy Easter!

The text on the bottom reads:
"They will mock him, insult him, spit on him flog him and kill him. On the the third day he will rise again."
Luke 18:32-33

This was an eCard I had made for Easter 2006.

Let The Hunt Begin!

Today's photo was actually taken during last year's Hope968's Easter Egg Hunt, as the toddlers began their quest to gather the eggs strewn about the playground.

Good Friday

"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive in Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross."
Colossians 2:13-14

Today's photo represents Good Friday, and the nail seen above is in a cross that one of our Hope968 members, Andy Cole made out of two huge logs he found. The cross sits in the Hope968 office, and weighs a couple hundred pounds. It took four men to carry into the office. It's even more amazing that Jesus carried His cross after being brutally beaten and scourged.

Irish Pub

Murphy's Bar & Grill is one a few Irish pubs in Honolulu. It's also one of the more popular watering holes for the "Pau Hana" (after work) crowd that work in downtown.

According to the sign above the awning, Murphy's is holding a block party this afternoon in the parking lot across the street.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Escalators

Department store giant Nordstrom's made its debut in Honolulu last Friday, opening its first full store in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Over 1,000 people lined up to be the first ones through the doors. In a new separate wing, there are also a bunch of new stores that will open along the walkway to "Nordies".

Today's photo was actually taken last Saturday as Kathy and I, along with my parents went to check out the three-story addition to Ala Moana. The store was quite crowded with gawkers and shoppers that day. I wanted to get a motion blur shot as we were descending from the third to second floor.

Spray Painting

Marine artist Wyland adds a lighter shade of blue-grey to the humpback whale being painted on the right aft section of N748AL, "Koholālele". I was standing about ten yards from the cherry picker, to get this shot at 1/500 seconds ... that was the only way I could avoid becoming one with the paint.
